The wines
Since 2017 in Contrada Cuba we have been producing two Etna Rosso DOC from grapes of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio (with small amounts of Alicante). These are the Monteleone Etna Rosso DOC and the Cuba Etna Rosso DOC. The latter is born in the oldest part of the vineyard, where head-trained vines are located. Since the 2018 harvest the production has been enriched with two new labels: Anthemis Etna Bianco DOC from grapes of Carricante cultivated in Sant’Alfio, on the eastern slope of the volcano; and Rumex Etna Rosso DOC, Nerello Mascalese. Purity and pre-pylloxera are the characteristic of the last wine added to our business. If we had to identify a common trait in our wines, it would surely be their capability of expressing the unique and nuanced territory of Etna: therefore, territoriality is the true characteristic of our production.
